General

• Generally responsible for producing operations and mechanical maintenance procedures for various industrial systems and equipment

Engineer

• Performing all aspects for complete designs of process engineering assignments
• Promoting the culture of working safely and applying safety related concepts into process design
• Establishing the design criteria, incorporating client requirements, estimate and/or scope basis and design basis meeting applicable state, local and federal standards and codes
• Ensuring that any requirements for permitting have been established and communicated to the project team
• Advising the Lead Engineer of potential design or scope changes
• Delegating work to engineers and designers in proportion to their technical skills and experience
• Consulting with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure inter-disciplinary alignment on projects
• Producing estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs

Pulp & Paper Process Engineer II

Mechanical Engineer

• Generally responsible for performing all aspects for a complete design of complex mechanical engineering assignments
• Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in mechanical engineering and involves applying advanced engineering techniques and analysis
• Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards
• Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team
• On-site assistance during startup
• Accomplishing engineering activities such as stress analysis, construction specifications, material procurement specifications, calculations and piping estimates
• Developing conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks at hand
• Producing estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project
• Producing detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project
• Calculations produced will be neatly prepared and organized for efficient checking by others and efficient use by drafters/designers for preparing drawings and as a deliverable when required
• Assisting the drafting group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems
• It is your responsibility to furnish sufficient sketches and details necessary for completion of engineering drawings
• Consulting with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project

Designer

• Perform electrical design for various projects at multiple plants within the company fleet (0 – 50 hours a week) for a year
• Ensure compliance with applicable company standards, industry codes, and project requirements
• Prepare, review, and update detailed electrical design drawings, including: • One-line diagrams • Elementary and control schematics • Wiring diagrams • Equipment layouts and installation details
• Develop and/or verify as-built documentation for projects implemented across the Southern Company fleet
• Interface with external parties on design models, drawings, and design
• Perform drawing transmittals for the Generation E&I Design department
