About the role
- Operate as a freelance Hmong interpreter (1099 Independent Contractor) providing language services.
- Connect bilingual and multilingual individuals with interpreting opportunities to support language access.
- Set your availability and accept appointments based on your schedule.
- Provide interpreting services in various settings, including medical, legal, and educational environments.
- Appointments available Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm; appointments are offered based on need and not guaranteed.
- Complete onboarding and any required skills assessments and background checks to join the linguist network.
- Act professionally, be punctual and adaptable, and work independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
- Fluency in English and target language with a comprehensive understanding of idiomatic speech and cultural patterns.
- Previous interpreting experience, preferably in medical, legal, or educational settings.
- Demonstrated professionalism, punctuality, and adaptability in the workplace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate basic communication
- Flexibility to work in different settings and adapt to various work environments.
- Must be located in and authorized to work in the US (We do not offer visa sponsorship).
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or certification in interpreting or related fields.
