About the role

  • Be the Lab’s First Call: act as point of contact for researchers at advanced AI labs and build trust-based relationships
  • Scope and launch new research-driven initiatives: partner with labs to uncover unarticulated data and evaluation needs across reasoning, multi-agent systems, and tool use
  • Prototype and bring new offerings to market: design new data types, spin up pilots with engineering and ops, and collaborate with business teams to scale offerings
  • Work within Handshake AI: leverage the largest early-career network to build human data products and evaluations at scale

Requirements

  • AI/ML Research Depth: conducted meaningful research (academia or industry); published at top venues or shipped production
  • Strategic, customer-obsessed mindset: engage technical buyers and senior researchers; uncover pain points and translate into action
  • Builder’s DNA: rapid prototyping, comfortable between research, product, and GTM; ability to ship
  • Technical fluency: debug models, evaluate outputs, experience with PyTorch or JAX, understand modern ML stacks
  • Extra credit: experience with RL, agent modeling, or AI alignment
  • Extra credit: familiarity with data-centric AI, synthetic data generation, or human-in-the-loop systems
  • Extra credit: understanding challenges in scaling foundation models (training stability, safety, inference efficiency)
  • Extra credit: contributions to open-source AI libraries or research tooling
  • Extra credit: interest in societal impact, deployment ethics, and governance of frontier models
