About the role
- Find valuable business insights from Topstep’s large and varied proprietary data
- Collaborate with a fast-paced, research-oriented team to build and improve methods for detecting risk and fraud, understanding business dynamics, and simulating various aspects of the program
- Build tools for stakeholders within Topstep that can improve their efficiency and/or their ability to gain insights from Topstep’s data for themselves
Requirements
- A Ph.D in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, machine learning, or a related technical field
- Experience with SQL, python, and the ability to quickly learn new programming languages or concepts as the need arises
- Attention to detail and the ability to work on a collaborative research team
- Experience building robust software, including test-driven development, logging, stress-testing, and monitoring
- The desire to constantly learn and improve
- The ability to find simple solutions when they exist, the technical knowledge to use complex solutions when they’re needed, and the ability to distinguish between the two
