About the role
- As the Engineering Coordinator (Tech Manager) for Payments, you will lead two squads that are critical to our purchase experience and serve as the technical reference for a team of 12+ software engineers.
- Your mission is to promote a modern engineering structure grounded in autonomy, resilience and scalable processes.
- High-Impact Projects: Provide technical leadership for the execution of projects such as multi-acquiring (support for multiple payment acquirers) and PCI DSS compliance.
- Operational Excellence: Refine processes and rituals to ensure a predictable delivery cadence, high code quality and proactive monitoring (observability).
- Modernization and Maintenance: Manage the lifecycle of legacy systems, ensuring efficient maintenance and a clear modernization roadmap without disrupting the business.
- Business Partnership: Act as the technical bridge to Commercial and Marketing teams, ensuring student and lead support needs are prioritized and resolved quickly.
- People Development: Mentor and develop the careers of 12+ software engineers, fostering a culture of feedback, autonomy and results-orientation.
Requirements
- Software Engineering Background: Solid experience in software engineering with hands-on coding and architecture experience to mediate complex decisions with specialists.
- Engineering Leadership: Strong experience managing software engineering teams, preferably in high-scale environments.
- Payments Expertise: Experience in e‑commerce: cart, checkout, payment gateways and payment methods (PIX, card, boleto, etc.).
- Processes and Quality: Experience implementing a culture of automated testing and monitoring in a microservices environment.
- Pragmatism: Ability to manage technical debt and legacy systems, understanding the trade-off between “state of the art” and delivering value.
- Ownership: Someone who takes responsibility for both new features and critical incidents that impact sales.
- Communication: Ability to translate technical terms for business partners and influence decisions at all levels.
- You will stand out if you have these differentiators: Experience with multi-acquirer strategies. Familiarity with Network Tokens (card brand tokenization). Knowledge of PCI DSS security standards. English: conversational level for interacting with occasional international partners and vendors.
