About the role
- Provides regulatory oversight of contamination management in Alberta.
- Communicates regulatory expectations to stakeholders.
- Guides the implementation and interpretation of the Contaminated Sites Policy.
- Provides regulatory direction to management of contaminated sites.
- Provides professional advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluates the scientific and technical basis for recommendations submitted to the government.
- Supervises and develops junior risk assessors to maintain consistent regulatory direction.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in a scientific discipline related to this position.
- 2 years related experience conducting environmental analysis on contaminated sites, including risk assessment.
- Master’s degree, DVM or MD plus 4 years related experience; or University graduation in a related field, plus 6 years related experience.
- Membership as P.Biol., P.Eng., or other profession recognized by the Contaminated Sites Policy Framework.
- Extensive knowledge of the environmental legislation, regulations and guidelines related to contaminated site assessment and remediation.
- Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
