About the role

  • Provides regulatory oversight of contamination management in Alberta.
  • Communicates regulatory expectations to stakeholders.
  • Guides the implementation and interpretation of the Contaminated Sites Policy.
  • Provides regulatory direction to management of contaminated sites.
  • Provides professional advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluates the scientific and technical basis for recommendations submitted to the government.
  • Supervises and develops junior risk assessors to maintain consistent regulatory direction.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a scientific discipline related to this position.
  • 2 years related experience conducting environmental analysis on contaminated sites, including risk assessment.
  • Master’s degree, DVM or MD plus 4 years related experience; or University graduation in a related field, plus 6 years related experience.
  • Membership as P.Biol., P.Eng., or other profession recognized by the Contaminated Sites Policy Framework.
  • Extensive knowledge of the environmental legislation, regulations and guidelines related to contaminated site assessment and remediation.
  • Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
