About the role
- Leading a team of Purchasing Officers to acquire and manage a wide variety of supply arrangement contracts
- Providing direction on purchasing best practices in the GoA.
- Leveraging your relationship-building and planning abilities to coordinate with purchasing clients across the GoA, with the goal of anticipating their needs.
- Working closely with colleagues, including the Manager responsible for GoA ad hoc procurement, to determine the best go-to-market strategy and RFx approach for each acquisition.
- Writing briefing notes to provide advice for executive leadership about contracting and procurement matters.
- Knowing your portfolio inside and out, and report on it effectively
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree (4 year program) in a related field, (for example Business, Economics, Supply Chain or any other related field)
- Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, supply chain management, category management or any other related field
- Understanding of trade agreements,purchasing practices, and supply chain management principles
- Experience managing contracts
- A proven record of striving for continuous improvements and organizing initiatives to reach completion
- Knowledge of the organizational and decision-making structures ideally in the public service
- Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail
- (Assets) Professional purchasing certification (e.g. SCMP or similar)
- (Assets) Supervisory experience
- (Assets) Experience of purchasing practices and managing contracts in public sector environment
- (Assets) Experience navigating the Government of Alberta’s 1GX system
