About the role
- Provides financial guidance and strategic analysis of financial processes within the Ministry of Primary and Preventative Health Services (PPHS).
- Manages reconciliations, ensuring compliance with financial policies, and driving continuous improvements.
- Acts as a key liaison between program areas, management and external stakeholders.
- Supports both the Revenue and Reporting units by ensuring data integrity and assisting with day-to-day processes and procedures.
- Involves understanding the full cycle of revenue and reporting processes.
Requirements
- University graduation in Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Management or other related field plus 3 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
- Related diploma plus 5 years directly related experience.
- Accounting designation and 1-year additional related experience.
- Knowledge of the Government of Alberta's applicable legislation (e.g., Financial Administration Act, Fiscal Planning and Transparency Act, Government Organizational Act and Alberta Public Agencies Act).
- Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and the ability to interpret PSAS for the monitoring, recording, reporting and interpretation of financial information.
