About the role

  • Ensure the Ministry’s procurement and grant management processes are effective, transparent, and compliant with Government of Alberta policies and legislation.
  • Provide expert advice and oversight across the full contract and grant lifecycle, supporting tender development, risk assessment, negotiations, and compliance monitoring.
  • Lead and continuously improve grants and contracts management processes.
  • Standardize workflows and resolve issues within grant and contracting programs.
  • Recommend policy and procedural enhancements to support Ministry goals.
  • Provide guidance on procurement policies, legislation, and compliance.
  • Review business cases and manage tendering and contract award processes.
  • Draft, review, and maintain contract and grant templates and documentation.
  • Monitor deliverables, payments, and compliance with contractual terms.
  • Provide technical support, advice, and dispute resolution for staff and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, external partners, and vendors.
  • Develop and deliver training, resources, and best practices for grants and procurement processes.

Requirements

  • A completed university degree in a related field, preferably in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or Commerce.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience in procurement, contract, and grant management.
  • Experience developing training materials, manuals, templates, or guidelines for contracts or grants management.
  • Experience with contract and grant management software, data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Experience with government policies, procedures, and legislation related to contracts, grants, and procurement.
