About the role

  • Develop and embed capital contracting and contract management capability across the Group, including frameworks, standards, templates, and governance models
  • Establish best practice contracting approaches for capital projects and exploration activities, aligned to project risk profiles and value drivers
  • Provide expert guidance on contract strategy, risk allocation, and commercial terms for major capital investments
  • Lead sourcing activities for large capital projects and exploration programs, from early project scoping through contract award
  • Determine optimal sourcing strategies and contracting structures (e.g., EPC/EPCM, alliances, frameworks, lump sum vs. reimbursable) based on market conditions, risk appetite, and project maturity while ensuring strategies support outcomes, cost certainty, Schedule integrity and long-term value creation
  • Conduct market analysis to assess supplier capacity, capability, cost drivers, and regional market dynamics
  • Lead commercial negotiations for high value and complex capital contracts, ensuring optimal commercial outcomes while maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Execute go to market strategies, including supplier engagement models, prequalification, tendering, and evaluation processes
  • Define and implement KPIs, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement mechanisms for capital suppliers
  • Drive supplier accountability for safety, cost, schedule, quality, ESG, and local content commitments
  • Establish and govern capital procurement and contracting processes, ensuring policy compliance, audit readiness, and risk management
  • Lead and contribute to supply chain systems enablement (e.g., SAP Ariba, SAP S/4HANA), with a focus on capital project requirements
  • Identify opportunities for digitalisation, analytics, and AI enabled insights within capital sourcing and contract management
  • Lead and develop a global team of contracting and procurement professionals supporting capital projects and growth initiatives. Act as a trusted business partner to Project Directors, Finance, Legal, and Projects Leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Law
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience in contract and procurement in a capital project environment, with at least 7 years in a senior supply chain, contracting or commercial role supporting capital projects
  • Proven track record in managing EPCM contracts
  • Demonstrated experience in capital project contracting models, strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations within large, complex organisations
  • Experienced with governance, audit/SOX environments, data driven decision making and building strong identity teams across various geographies
  • Strong systems capability, including SAP and SAP Ariba, systems thinking and ability to translate strategy into operational execution
