About the role

  • Lead a team tasked with reducing road traffic casualties in Gloucestershire
  • Manage road safety schemes
  • Analyze collision data and speed management
  • Provide safety reviews of highway design proposals
  • Undertake Road Safety Audits
  • Implement road safety strategies and meet casualty reduction targets
  • Lead on a programme of Road Safety schemes including project management and commissioning
  • Manage budgets and provide regular updates
  • Supervise, mentor, advise, and support team members to ensure development and strong team working
  • Work with other teams and external organizations to deliver road safety solutions
  • Collaborate with interest groups to promote safe and sustainable travel for all road users.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and appreciation of the Safe System
  • Experience in managing colleagues and projects
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and reporting their status
  • Expert knowledge of road safety including requirements for ensuring highway design meets standards and guidance and provides safe solutions for all road users
  • Significant experience in collision data analysis and deriving solutions to road safety issues
  • Qualified in accordance with GG 119 and able to undertake Road Safety Audits
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to prioritise workloads and ensure service levels are maintained
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Customer-focused nature to help build working relationships with stakeholders.
