About the role

  • Lead GenerLink sales across Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa by building distributor partnerships and training electricians
  • Call on and support electrical distributors (Graybar, City Electric, Crescent Electric, Rexel) to drive stocking and sales
  • Lead branch visits, counter days, technical product trainings; monitor inventory and assist with reorder planning
  • Identify, onboard, and support licensed electricians in approved utility areas; coordinate training and field support
  • Pursue non-traditional partners (generator dealers, HVAC providers, emergency preparedness companies) and run joint marketing and referral programs
  • Build relationships with co-ops, municipal utilities, and EMCs; support education, pilots, and customer engagement
  • Represent the company at trade shows, home expos, contractor forums, and distributor events; organize product demos and educational sessions
  • Track activities and customer interactions using CRM tools and provide regular reports on territory performance and pipeline

Requirements

  • 3+ years of outside sales experience, preferably in electrical distribution, generators, or related technical products
  • Strong knowledge of the contractor and utility landscape in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage a multi-state territory
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout the region
  • Preferred: existing relationships with distributors, contractors, or utility contacts in the Midwest
  • Preferred: Familiarity with utility approval processes and home standby or portable generator markets
