Establish, lead, and mature the enterprise Responsible Use of AI (RUAI) program and AI governance platforms to ensure alignment with ethical principles, regulatory requirements, and organizational risk tolerance.
Provide vision, strategy, and operational oversight for development, implementation, and continuous improvement of AI governance frameworks, policies, and controls.
Manage and optimize AI governance tools and platforms (e.g., model registries, risk assessment platforms, bias detection tools, explainability dashboards) to support consistent, automated compliance across the AI lifecycle.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Risk, IT, Data Science, and business units to integrate ethical, legal, and security requirements into AI/ML design, development, deployment, and monitoring activities.
Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulations such as the EU AI Act, GDPR, CCPA, Colorado AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001.
Establish and lead AI risk assessment processes, including classification of AI systems by risk level, evaluation of bias, fairness, and explainability, and oversight of mitigation plans.
Monitor and audit AI systems to ensure operational effectiveness of controls, document results, and coordinate remediation activities.
Develop and oversee enterprise AI ethics and governance training programs and lead change management to drive adoption of AI governance policies and tools.
Serve as thought leader and report AI governance KPIs and risk metrics to executive leadership and the Board.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Law, Ethics, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
6–8+ years of experience in AI, emerging technology, and risk management (minimum 6 years).
Proven track record in developing and implementing AI governance frameworks, ethical AI policies, and compliance programs.
Strong knowledge of AI-related laws, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., EU AI Act, GDPR, CCPA, Colorado AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO AI standards).
In-depth understanding of AI/ML model development, deployment, monitoring, and auditing, including bias detection, explainability (XAI), and fairness practices.
Experience working cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Risk, IT, Data Science, and business teams to embed ethical and regulatory standards into AI initiatives.
Demonstrated leadership in AI-related change management, including development of training programs on AI ethics, governance, and compliance.
Expertise in AI governance tools/platforms, model documentation practices, and compliance automation.
Strong understanding of risk mitigation strategies for AI bias, fairness, transparency, and security.
Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills; analytical and strategic thinking.
