About the role
- conduct policy analysis and research
- build evidence-based messaging and argumentation
- inform and develop policy and advocacy materials for internal and external audiences
- serve as a resource to therapeutic area (TA) policy leadership regarding U.S. government policies that impact patient access to Gilead’s innovative virology medicines
- primarily focus on Gilead’s HIV portfolio and state policy issues
- analyze and summarize relevant state policies, issues and trends and evaluate implications for Gilead’s HIV business
- develop resources for internal and external stakeholders, including talking points, issue briefs, one-pagers, reports and presentations, that outline policy positions, implications, arguments and key messages
- collaborate with members of the Policy team and U.S. State and Federal Government Affairs teams to define and evolve Gilead’s U.S. HIV policy positions in support of corporate mission to maintain patient-provider choice and access to innovative HIV treatment and prevention medicines
- ensure timely coordination on policy priorities and strategic development
- identify and support engagement with influential third-party organizations, including health care policy experts, policy research organizations, and aligned patient advocacy groups
- anticipate trends in the external environment that will impact HIV markets and develop plans to address areas of concern
Requirements
- 10 years of relevant public or private sector experience in health care industry
- bachelor's degree or 8 years of related experience with an advanced degree (MPH, MPP, MBA, PhD)
- deep understanding of U.S. government policies that impact the pharmaceutical industry and HIV market
- demonstrated proficiency in policy-related strategy, analytics, communication, presentation and problem solving
- experience delivering policy initiatives with demonstrated success
- exceptional organizational and project management skills
- excellent verbal, analytical, written and interpersonal communications skills, particularly in interpreting complex technical rhetoric for general audience
- English fluency required
- Domestic travel [25%] required
