About the role
- Serve as AWS Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting USPS Office of CIO Architecture, Strategy, & Innovation (CASI)
- Advise and assist USPS IT functional groups on cloud strategy and solutions
- Define and implement cloud-based microservices/SOA solutions for infrastructure and business applications
- Create architecture deliverables describing cloud solutions, BOMs, technology/vendor components, cost estimates, and design parameters
- Prepare solution descriptions, assumptions, technical approaches, risks, and mitigation plans
- Provide technical direction to management and systems professionals engaged in analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance
- Lead design, development, and deployment of performant cloud business software at scale on AWS
- Ensure compliance with IT risk and regulatory requirements for cloud applications
- Document code, models, and technical solutions and communicate recommendations to stakeholders
Requirements
- 13+ to 15+ years of related hands-on experience with AWS cloud and cloud architectures
- Active AWS Cloud Associate or Professional certification (required/expected)
- Expert knowledge of AWS Cloud Computing, Cloud Based Services, Cloud Solutions
- Experience defining and implementing cloud microservices / SOA solutions
- Ability to create architecture deliverables, bill of materials, cost estimations, and design parameters
- Proficiency in automation and scripting (shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell) and IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet)
- Knowledge of CI/CD, containerization, deployment strategies, and Kafka in production
- Experience with IT compliance and risk management in regulated environments (e.g., SOX, PCI)
- Ability to integrate AWS services with SaaS or on-premise technologies (Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, Linux, SAP)
- Proficiency querying and managing SQL and NoSQL databases
- Proficiency creating technical diagrams (Visio, Draw.io), documents (Word), and presentations (PowerPoint)
- Proficiency creating data representations and reports (Excel, Power BI)
- Proficiency in Generative AI and prompt engineering
- Strong oral and written communication skills for technical and executive audiences
- Ability to troubleshoot large-scale enterprise systems and provide technical direction
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (NACI/T1) and meet U.S. residency requirements
