About the role

  • The Secondary Engineering Manager – Electrical Component will play a key role in supporting the sales and business development by providing technical expertise in the design of electrification solutions for the EHV/HV Substations.
  • Responsible for system design, material selection, quantity estimation, various engineering activities associated for a project and customer technical consultations.
  • Ensure that the proposed solutions meet customer needs while adhering to industry standards, safety regulations, quality requirements, delivery and cost-efficiency objectives.
  • Execute with association of workgroups as applicable to meet assigned objectives.
  • Lead secondary engineering activities for various complex substation types and ensure leadership, skills development and motivation of the teams.
  • Manage engineering workload planning and define make or buy strategy for engineering activities.
  • Collaborate with GSI Global Engineering Centre (GSI GEC) in accordance with project requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in EHV/ HV AIS & GIS Substation design.
  • Good understanding of power system components (transformers, switchgear, protection systems) and renewable energy integration.
  • Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) environments with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience of Secondary (CRP/SAS, Aux Systems, Telecom, Interface) engineering up to 765kV/400kV/220KV and HVDC Substations (AIS/GIS/SOLAR/WIND).
  • Experience/Knowledge on Relay Testing, Equipment Testing, Control / Protection scheme testing & SAS Commissioning experience (min 1 year) shall be given additional weightage.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical requirements and business needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients.
  • Ability to guide/groom team and execute project in line with client/project requirement.
  • Ability to expand the competency domain, being able to take new learning challenges.
  • Good knowledge of Engineering interface with Civil, Mechanical & Primary/Plant Engineering as per project.
  • Successful experience in management of engineering teams.
  • Strong influencing and relationship building skills.
  • Knowledge of project execution risks and financial processes.
  • Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium period and to travel in the region (Global).
  • Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in an unstructured environment and deliver results.
  • Demonstrates ownership & accountability, judgment and decision making, influences & inspires team, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role.
  • Global experience and mindset including high technical cultural competence and sensitivity.
