About the role

  • Design, develop and validate repair procedures meeting customer and business requirements
  • Prove out safety and functionality
  • Drive design decisions by clearly communicating the “unknowns”, associated risks and tradeoffs
  • Lead engineering efforts in the validation and beta period of tooling/process products
  • Create and maintain project plan
  • Develop, test and validate repair/replacement procedures
  • Identify and clearly communicate requirements for process-specific tooling
  • Own the design of innovative repair solutions
  • Follow and use the team’s Design Review Process
  • Maintain broad awareness of efforts within the group to assure lessons learned and responsiveness to customer/program needs
  • Mentor younger engineers in the use of CAD modelling, FE analysis, drawing reviews, and/or rigging plans

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Civil or equivalent)
  • 8 years of experience in an engineering, operations, test, or manufacturing field
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10-20+% of the time, both domestic and international
  • Ability and willingness to climb wind turbines and work at heights
  • Proficiency with English both written and oral communication
  • At least 3 years of wind turbine repair development experience
  • Ability and willingness to challenge status quo without allegiance to past or current practices and technology
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Global Wind Organization certification
  • Lean and standard work experience or certification
  • Familiarity with industrial tooling
  • Familiarity with empathic design
  • Proven record of being team oriented and results driven
  • Technical project management experience
  • Familiarity with CAD design and analysis
  • PC proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
  • Demonstrated technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with simple, creative solutions
