About the role

  • Own risk management and risk mitigations by supporting the team in all ongoing projects.
  • Develop processes to monitor and control risk within projects in execution.
  • Continuously improve processes and tools to enhance the efficiency of the generator upgrades team.
  • Monitor and improve the productivity of generator upgrade projects.
  • Ensure opportunities for margin accretion and track project costs using EAC (Estimate at Completion) metrics across the Generator upgrade project portfolio.
  • Be accountable for leading the technical development of the project engineering team, contributing to the team's technical and process skill matrix.
  • Assume the project management role for generator upgrades: Own the engineering execution of generator upgrades from contract signature to the completion of GE's contractual obligations.
  • Manage a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to Project Management and GE’s internal engineering teams.
  • Review customer specifications and communicate project requirements to all design functions using internal documentation systems.
  • Evaluate the financial and schedule impact of customer-requested scope changes.
  • Provide technical support to engineering, sourcing, vendors, and installation teams to ensure equipment meets all customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Enforce quality procedures and participate in their improvement.
  • Ensure risk management tracking, implement risk mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, plus 8+ years of experience in Generator Engineering, Power Generation Operation, or Generator-related activities; or a High School Diploma / GED and 10+ years of relevant Generator work experience.
  • Site, manufacturing or design experience with generators.
  • Project management experience in complex engineering projects.
  • Background in continuous improvement, developing methods, tools, and processes.
  • Proficiency in Excel or programming tools to automate manual tasks.
