About the role

  • Provide expert technical support for Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS)
  • Analyze customer system-level requirements and perform studies
  • Develop strategies and high-level specifications for Synchronous Condenser (SC), Fixed Series Capacitors (FSC), and Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) solutions
  • Coordinate synchronous condenser system designs with machine factories and power system consultants
  • Conduct necessary calculations for equipment selection in synchronous condenser projects
  • Specify and review studies related to the technical design strategy for FSCs
  • Act as a senior reviewer for proposal and project execution as well as new product introduction (NPI)
  • Apply expertise in the specification of valves, reactors and protection and control systems for STATCOM designs
  • Drive engineering tools strategy in development of FACTS solutions
  • Participate in industry working groups (IEEE, Cigre, IEC)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Systems Engineering with a focus in electrical, or Physics from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of related engineering experience or a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Systems Engineering with a focus in electrical, or Physics from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related engineering experience
  • Detailed understanding of applicable IEEE, IEC and other industry and regulatory standards affecting design and operation
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% as required, which may include remote locations and international travel
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
