About the role

  • The Wind Turbine Technician will support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of wind turbines by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspections on wind turbines and associated equipment.
  • This role is responsible for executing scheduled and unscheduled service activities in the field, identifying and resolving technical issues, and accurately documenting work performed.
  • Lead and execute complex maintenance, troubleshooting, and major component replacement activities on ECO, GE1.X, GE3.X and Cypress wind turbines, including generators, gearboxes, yaw systems, and pitch systems.
  • Provide on-site technical leadership and mentoring to junior technicians and contractors, ensuring correct execution of specialized tasks such as generator bearing exchanges, gearbox up-tower repairs, yaw gearbox replacements, and borescope inspections (Winergy, NGC, ZF).
  • Perform advanced fault analysis and root cause investigations using Toolbox ST, SCADA/event logs, CMS data, electrical test results, and borescope findings, and define effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Plan and prepare jobs by developing detailed work scopes and method statements using engineering instructions, drawings, OEM manuals, and process documentation, including identification of parts, tools, and special equipment required.
  • Lead and oversee ECO and Cypress units’ periodic maintenance, retrofits, and reliability/improvement campaigns, providing feedback to engineering and fleet teams on technical issues and observed trends.
  • Execute and supervise electrical and MV work on turbine and balance-of-plant systems in line with switching authorizations, LOTO procedures, and relevant standards, ensuring safe and compliant operations.
  • Conduct and interpret yaw teeth and bearing MPI inspections, gearbox borescope inspections, and other specialized NDT/inspection activities, and translate findings into clear recommendations and work scopes.
  • Coordinate and control the work of internal teams and external service providers/contractors on site, including lifting operations, complex repairs, and parallel work fronts, to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.
  • Lead or actively participate in risk assessments, JSAs, toolbox talks, and incident investigations, and drive a strong EHS culture in accordance with GE and customer requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, site management, engineering support, and planners, providing technical clarification, progress updates, and recommendations on turbine condition and performance.
  • Accurately document all activities (callouts, diagnostics, inspections, repairs, retrofits) in service reports, CMMS, logbooks, and checklists, ensuring traceability and high-quality technical records.
  • Prepare and deliver professional technical reports, including root cause analyses, inspection reports (borescope/MPI), and follow-up action plans, and present these to internal stakeholders and customers when required.
  • Manage materials and logistics for assigned tasks: identify and order spare parts, secure quotations, coordinate tool and equipment needs, and ensure timely availability on site.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, proposing technical or procedural improvements, and sharing best practices across the fleet and service teams.
  • Be available to work outside normal working hours, including weekends and on-call rotations, and to travel to multiple sites across Morocco and abroad for technical support, training, and fleet campaigns.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical or equivalent substantial industry experience.
  • 5–7 years’ hands-on experience in wind turbine installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance, including troubleshooting and major component replacements
  • Experience on GE onshore platforms (e.g., ECO, GE1.X, GE3.X, Cypress), including periodic maintenance, retrofits, and reliability improvements
  • Strong electrical and controls background: LV/MV systems, inverters/converters, transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and use of Toolbox ST / SCADA for diagnostics and parameter adjustments
  • Proven skills in drivetrain and rotating equipment work (gearboxes, generators, main bearing, hub/pitch systems), including inspections.
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring and inspections (borescope, vibration/CMS, oil analysis, yaw system inspections) and interpreting results for maintenance decisions
  • Strong practical experience with standard electrical test equipment and adherence to formal electrical testing procedures and safety standards
  • High EHS and quality focus, with good knowledge of LOTO, permit-to-work, working at heights, and participation in JSA/risk assessment activities
  • Physically fit to work at heights and in challenging weather conditions; GWO certificates or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe
  • Good computer skills and ability to produce clear technical reports and documentation
  • Excellent English communication skills and ability to work in a team, mentor junior technicians.
