About the role

  • Own the UK tax provision and return cycle
  • Lead the end-to-end UK tax provision process and CT600 filings, ensuring accurate calculations, robust review, and timely submissions.
  • Oversee anti-hybrid assessments and documentation, embedding controls to prevent disallowances and maintain audit-ready support.
  • Run UK group compliance frameworks
  • Manage Corporate Interest Restriction compliance (modelling capacity, allocations, and returns), Group Relief strategy and claims, and the Group Payment Arrangement to optimize cash flow and accuracy.
  • Maintain clear governance and calendars across all UK entities.
  • Drive cash tax forecasting with Finance Partner with FP&A to produce accurate short- and long-range UK cash tax forecasts, linking forecast drivers to P&L, capital plans, and transactional activity.
  • Track forecast vs. actuals and update guidance for leadership and treasury.
  • Lead UK tax controversy and HMRC engagement
  • Set strategy and run case management for enquiries, audits, and rulings; coordinate evidence, positions, and timelines to achieve timely, penalty-free outcomes.
  • Maintain a transparent, collaborative relationship with HMRC and ensure consistent messaging to stakeholders.
  • Own UK tax planning and execution
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement UK tax planning initiatives aligned with business strategy (reorgs, funding, incentives (including RDEC), loss optimisation), with clear modelling of ETR and cash impacts.
  • Build business cases, approvals, and post‑implementation reviews to lock in benefits and control risk.
  • Coordinate external advisors and auditors
  • Scope, select, and manage external tax advisers for compliance and planning; drive quality, timelines, and value-for-fee outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors on tax areas; prepare technical papers and support smooth audit closure.
  • Lead EU IP development tax strategy
  • Partner with Engineering, Legal, and Finance to shape tax‑efficient IP development, ownership, and exploitation models across the EU, ensuring substance, transfer pricing alignment, and incentive optimization.
  • Establish operating guidelines, intercompany arrangements, and compliance documentation for IP lifecycle decisions.
  • Steer tax planning for EU-based global Engineering Centres
  • In conjunction with Transfer pricing colleagues, develop and implement transfer pricing approaches for EU engineering hubs, aligning cost contribution or service models with functional profiles and DEMPE analysis.
  • Develop and implement strategies to generate and efficiently utilise tax attributes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • ACA and/or CTA qualified
  • Significant experience in Finance & Tax Operations.
  • Strong people and project leadership, concise technical writing, ability to translate complex tax issues into business-ready recommendations, and operate with high integrity under time pressure.
  • Skilled in coordinating external advisers and external auditors, setting scope, and driving quality and timelines.
