About the role
- Plan and Run Engine Tests
- Develop engine test plans that verify safe operating limits
- Define and assist in conducting equipment and system tests
- Identify optimal testing strategies and report performance per industry standards
- Monitor component and system tests to ensure test vehicle safety
- Analyze engine operability and performance
- Analyze inlet distortion and design hardware to simulate its impact on engine operation
- Use thermodynamic modeling tools to analyze engine performance data and make recommendations
- Improve gas turbine thermodynamic and operability modeling techniques
- Work with other engineering disciplines to assess gas turbine engine operability
- Analyze data using operability tools while protecting the company’s intellectual property
- Drive technical solutions and continuous improvement
- Engage in research, design, development, and enhancement of technologies to improve performance, operability, and cost
- Provide engineering support for performance, cost reduction, and quality initiatives
- Lead efforts to resolve field and manufacturing process issues
- Collaborate across teams and with customers
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, performance, systems, and controls
- Develop strong relationships with external customers and partners
- Drive unit- and system-level functional performance to deliver customer-focused solutions
- Provide leadership, documentation, and communication
- Document technical data and results in accordance with engineering policies and procedures
- Communicate significant technical issues, risks, or developments in a timely manner
- Participate in organizational initiatives and technical/program reviews
- Provide technical leadership and support to project team members
- Support technical program managers and mentor less experienced engineers
- Make decisions within a defined framework and engage senior team members on complex issues
- Contribute independently to projects while supporting senior engineers in advancing engine operability technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 8 years' experience related to Aircraft Engine Operability or related discipline.
- Proficiency with NPSS, Python, or similar simulation/programming tools
- Experience in gas turbine engine test support, analysis, and thermodynamic modeling
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and influencing skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a structured team environment and also independently
- Process-oriented mindset with strong problem analysis, resolution skills, and systems thinking
- Strong analytical skills in thermodynamics and aerodynamics
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
