About the role

  • Develop appealing 3-dimensional CAD models from written and verbal customer specifications along with related drawings and other documentation
  • Communicate effectively with customers throughout the design cycle, including the delivery of engaging presentations
  • Manage the development and implementation of new designs through design analysis, risk mitigation, review of safety factors & tolerance stack-ups, reliability tools, schedules, and design reviews
  • Collaborate with the Systems Engineer and program team to ensure designs meet technical and program requirements
  • Verify that designs have adequate safety factors and acceptable tolerance stack-ups prior to releasing them to production
  • Review and approve documentation for transition from prototype to production
  • Collaborate closely with customers to ensure products perform as expected and that they integrate seamlessly into the end platform
  • Work with customers to rework designs to ensure production suitability
  • Develop and maintain standard engineering methods and tools used to develop new designs
  • Take accountability for design activities from concept through detail design to production release
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to troubleshoot and diagnose non-performing products
  • Support the failure analysis process providing input and final review of all reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Computer Graphics Technician, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in systems, designing, and testing within the Aerospace industry
  • Proficiency with Solidworks and/or NX
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Strong familiarity with aerospace design and documentation standards
  • Knowledge of common aerospace materials, fabrication processes, finishes, etc.
  • Knowledge of proper methods of documentation and notation
