About the role
- Own overall performance of several large, complex supplier contracts
- Maximize contract productivity through cost reduction, cost avoidance, income generation, and working capital improvement
- Track and analyze contract performance versus expectations (e.g. bid vs did), identify gaps and opportunities, and lead corrective and improvement actions
- Use commercial levers such as cost recovery, terminations, productivity clauses, premiums, and other mechanisms to maximize value
- Act as chief negotiator on significant, complex deals
- Lead negotiations across sourcing, legal, finance, compliance, engineering, quality, manufacturing operations, product lines, customers, and suppliers
- Lead internal business approvals, supply awards, and contract authoring
- Support and manage pre- and post-contractual activities, including terms and conditions and claims management
- Be accountable for supplier performance across safety, compliance, quality, delivery, commercial results, readiness, WIP health, commitments, payables, and tooling
- Drive structured problem solving and action plans when suppliers underperform
- Lead cross-functional teams to manage key supplier relationships and run regular supplier business reviews with an appropriate cadence and level of seniority
- Act as the main liaison between internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure timely issue resolution
- Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, and services
- Use industry and market insight to inform commercial decisions and strategies
- Find and lead creative commercial solutions within a complex contractual landscape, using all available “currencies” (price, volume, risk, terms, etc.) to generate mutual value
- Critically assess the quality of information, challenge conflicting data, and leverage multiple internal and external resources to make strong, data-driven decisions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Extensive experience in one or more of the following: Commercial Operations, Supply Chain or Sourcing/Procurement, Consulting, Sales and Business Development, Contract Management
- Demonstrated commercial leadership and experience negotiating large, complex deals
- Experience drafting, negotiating, and closing contracts, including both business and legal terms
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at different levels
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with proven ability to build robust internal and external relationships
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems
- Proven experience leading programs and projects through to delivery
- Ability to document, plan, and execute programs, with solid project management capability
- Experience creating and leveraging innovative commercial solutions and coaching others to do the same
- Comfortable working across large, matrixed organizations and delivering against key business objectives
- Leadership style that reflects humility, openness to diverse perspectives, inclusion, and transparency to drive the best outcomes for GE Aerospace and our partners
- Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 50%, depending on business needs
