About the role
- Oversee financial operations, systems, and policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Ensure accuracy and effective oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Supervise accounting functions and support the ongoing strength of financial systems and processes.
- Coordinate the annual audit, including preparation and submission of required documentation.
- In partnership with the CFO, manage federal, state grants, and ensure compliance with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
- Maintain complete and current grant files, including approved budgets.
- Process grant drawdowns and invoicing.
- Prepare and submit required financial reports.
- Collaborate with the finance team and Co-Executive Directors to develop the annual organizational budget.
- Prepare budget documents and presentations.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the Board of Directors, Co-Executive Directors, and CFO.
- Monitor grants, contract budgets, and ensure program staff have the financial information needed to manage them effectively.
- Develop and maintain financial agreements with vendors, consultants, and subrecipients.
- Ensure agreements are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor contract timelines to reduce organizational risk.
- Develop systems to monitor subrecipient compliance and provide technical assistance as needed.
- Respond to staff inquiries related to payroll, workers’ compensation, benefits, and employment verification.
- Administer employee benefits programs.
- Maintain personnel records in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Support new employee orientation related to financial and personnel systems.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience using computer-based financial management systems in a multi-funded nonprofit (5+ years preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred
- Experience with budget development, financial planning, and evaluation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence issues preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppression work and ending violence against women
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
