About the role
- Lead design on transportation engineering projects including intersections, local streets, collectors, arterials, rural roadways, trails, and sidewalks with ADA facilities
- Analyze reports, maps, drawings, and survey data to plan and assemble construction documents
- Conduct preliminary engineering evaluations and studies to identify design alternatives and assist in making recommendations
- Prepare project quantities and cost estimates
- Ensure project quality in accordance with QA/QC guidelines
- Provide hands-on expertise and contribute to complex, multidisciplinary projects
- Coach and mentor junior staff and support their career development
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification required; PE license preferred
- 3+ years of experience in project design and plan development; DOT experience preferred
- Proficiency with MicroStation and Bentley's OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Ability to lead design tasks across a variety of transportation project types
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, and regulations
