About the role

  • Lead design on transportation engineering projects including intersections, local streets, collectors, arterials, rural roadways, trails, and sidewalks with ADA facilities
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, and survey data to plan and assemble construction documents
  • Conduct preliminary engineering evaluations and studies to identify design alternatives and assist in making recommendations
  • Prepare project quantities and cost estimates
  • Ensure project quality in accordance with QA/QC guidelines
  • Provide hands-on expertise and contribute to complex, multidisciplinary projects
  • Coach and mentor junior staff and support their career development
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification required; PE license preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in project design and plan development; DOT experience preferred
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and Bentley's OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
  • Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Ability to lead design tasks across a variety of transportation project types
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, and regulations
