About the role
- Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments across versions ranging from SQL Server 2008 through 2022 and beyond
- Administer and optimize AWS-based database environments, including Amazon RDS for SQL Server and EC2-hosted instances
- Design, deploy, and troubleshoot SSIS packages to support complex data integration, transformation, and reporting workflows
- Monitor database performance using tools such as SQL Profiler and Dynamic Management Views (DMVs); analyze and optimize queries and execution plans to improve system efficiency
- Implement and manage high-availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups, log shipping, and backup/restore strategies to meet defined RPO/RTO objectives
- Ensure all database systems comply with HIPAA regulations and internal security standards to protect sensitive patient health information
- Develop and maintain PowerShell and T-SQL scripts to automate routine database maintenance, monitoring, and health checks
- Partner with engineering, analytics, and operations teams to support data-driven initiatives and ensure system reliability
- Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices; contribute to ongoing improvements in infrastructure and processes
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in production environments
- Strong expertise in SQL Server 2012 through current versions, including upgrades and side-by-side migrations
- Hands-on experience with AWS services, including RDS, EC2, S3, and IAM for database management and automation
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining SSIS packages for ETL processes
- Strong scripting skills using PowerShell and/or T-SQL for automation and system maintenance
