About the role

  • Engineering leadership role overseeing design and delivery of a global; complex; micro service ecosystem.
  • Support a delivery team that is responsible for the systems; technology; quality; and delivery of digital capabilities.
  • Scope includes but not limited to headless digital ordering capabilities supporting omnichannel (Ford.com eCommerce, Mobile, In-Vehicle) order management capabilities serving global markets.
  • Build and deliver a modern, greenfield open stack platform based on MACH architecture principles.
  • Model the use of modern software engineering practices (TDD BDD, CI/CD, Shift left, 12 factor applications, API first design language etc..) to support integration with existing Ford software products as well as external cloud-based services.
  • Collaborate with Ford’s Enterprise Architecture organization to rationalize technologies, further leverage current technology offerings already in use, and identify gaps/opportunities.
  • Implement a talent system to review existing team capabilities (internal and external) and build and promote practices to develop a world-class software engineering team.
  • Strategize & work with senior leaders across Ford’s engineering organization to make significant, measurable impact on a global scale by innovating and operating with an iterative, agile, and user-centric perspective.
  • Provide thought leadership for the development, structure, technology of Ford with skills in strategic planning, goal setting, processes development, budgeting, and creating opportunities for professional development within technology teams.
  • Transform teams from a project mindset towards a product mindset.
  • Global. Team members will be in India, US and/or Europe.
  • Provide engineering leadership up to 2 product lines across eCommerce platforms.
  • Help business partners understand our iterative development approach and focus on delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and releases through careful and deliberate prioritization.
  • Initial team size will include around 10 positions of associates and purchased service capacity with external partners.

Requirements

  • Conversant in digital ecommerce processes and technologies.
  • Experience evolving agile software delivery practices and processes.
  • Experience/Awareness of Microservices architecture, Cloud-Native architecture, Event-driven architecture, APIs, Domain-Driven Design, GCP Hosting, Serverless, Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Experience progressing STLC or QA practices and processes.
  • Experience with progressing DevOps practices and processes.
  • Experience in collaborating and partnering with other technical domain experts such as cloud and or security.
  • Hands-on AI engineering or use experience
  • Strong change management experience.
