About the role

  • Deliver motor and drive unit electrical and software interface definition.
  • Define system functional requirements.
  • Support test and validation of Ford ADVEV products.
  • Work cross-functionally with hardware and software engineering teams to ensure hardware and software feature maturity is fit for testing.
  • Ensure testing is completed in time to support program milestones.
  • Ensure that the propulsion system meets feature attributes, performance, regulatory, safety, and drivability requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems design, systems architecture, and powertrain systems integration.
  • Strong electrical and systems engineering fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of systems development, vehicle architecture, powertrain technologies, software/hardware tool development, and motor calibration technologies.
  • A systems approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Mechanical engineering (even better, you may have...)
  • 3+ years of experience in electric powertrain system development and understanding of the intricacies of the system design.
  • 3+ years of experience in integrating and calibrating powertrain control systems (e.g., e-motors, transmissions, engines, drivelines, etc.).
  • Experience with Vehicle Network Protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Proficiency in using testing tools and software (e.g., diagnostic tools, CANalyzer, Vspy, Vision, etc.)
  • Proficiency in fundamentals of vehicle architecture, embedded systems design, RTOSes and real-time networking.
  • Experience in designing and launching new embedded products (concept-to-production).
  • Vehicle track and performance testing experience.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, and electric motor controls.
  • An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team.
