About the role
- Implement freight efficiencies to achieve calendarized and annualized targets.
- Develop logistics commodity strategies with the Transportation Purchasing Organization.
- Develop equipment & routing specs for Request for Quote with Transportation Purchasing.
- Publish supplier shipping instructions, daily change management, including responding to operating plan changes.
- Support TPO in helping carriers react to changes at least cost.
- Manage inbound freight cost by identifying and implementing improvements and tracking physicals.
- Identify cost savings through sourcing changes and density changes.
- Audit and dispute logistics provider billing discrepancies.
- Review & Approve TONU, Approve Plant Requested pull-aheads, etc.…
- Interface with Plant Group Managers and MP&L Managers to manage logistics-related issues between plants, suppliers, and carriers.
- MEL Meeting & metrics, Cost Reviews.
- Demurrage/detention tracking and adjudication.
- Monitoring Cube Utilization, Brokering, Add/Cancel metrics, Rack Return-to-plan.
- Execute Forward Model Logistics plans in conjunction with the LLP and affected plant(s).
- Interface with Lead Logistics Provider to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
- Provide monthly updates to Director of MP&L.
- Achieve a reduction in brokering for key carriers utilizing Data Warehouse reports and detailed brokering & book of business reviews.
- Maintain or improve MEL rating for overall carrier performance.
- Maintain or improve a 5.8 sigma rating for the overall quality performance level for production disruptions.
- Support new product launches with zero production losses due to logistics failures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, or GED equivalent
- 1-3+ years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- 1-3+ years of experience working and interfacing in a logistics environment
- Ability to self-motivate, strong time-management skills, emotional resilience, work under pressure and time commitments.

- Strong ability to interface with plant personnel; staff MP&L (MFE, SCM, etc.) and cross-functional (Purchasing, Lead Logistics Providers, etc.) teams.
- Lead resolution of plant, supplier, carrier, and other MP&L issues to ensure plant production.
- Strong analytical skill set, coupled with decision-making capability, including a background in PowerBI, and/or Tableau.
- Strong understanding of MP&L (CMMS) and Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) systems.
