About the role

  • Work with Ford Global Laboratories to ensure that robust emissions/fuel economy measurement strategies are in place to develop and certify the diverse range of products in Ford's plan (including gasoline, diesel, and electrified products)
  • Conduct onsite emissions laboratory assessments and sign-offs of Ford and contract facilities to ensure conformance to corporate guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support to vehicle programs and laboratory personnel with respect to regulatory interpretations, measurement analysis and laboratory assessments.
  • Review and interpret new regulations for emissions and fuel economy testing. Provide direction to laboratories to ensure compliance with new regulations.
  • Participate in different Government/Industry forums to collaborate on best practices and run special test programs.
  • Carry out test programs to evaluate new measurement equipment and/or vehicle technologies.
  • Generate assessment and sign-off reports documenting laboratory status.
  • Develop test procedures and local assessment procedures based on regulations and Ford best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior management and regulatory contacts, including EPA and CARB
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Self-starter, ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to support infrequent travel
  • Experience with emissions laboratory equipment or emissions test procedures/regulations (light duty or heavy duty) is desired
  • Knowledge of vehicle powertrain components and basic understanding of vehicle electrification is desired
  • Experience applying statistical methods is desired
