About the role
- Work with Ford Global Laboratories to ensure that robust emissions/fuel economy measurement strategies are in place to develop and certify the diverse range of products in Ford's plan (including gasoline, diesel, and electrified products)
- Conduct onsite emissions laboratory assessments and sign-offs of Ford and contract facilities to ensure conformance to corporate guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Provide ongoing support to vehicle programs and laboratory personnel with respect to regulatory interpretations, measurement analysis and laboratory assessments.
- Review and interpret new regulations for emissions and fuel economy testing. Provide direction to laboratories to ensure compliance with new regulations.
- Participate in different Government/Industry forums to collaborate on best practices and run special test programs.
- Carry out test programs to evaluate new measurement equipment and/or vehicle technologies.
- Generate assessment and sign-off reports documenting laboratory status.
- Develop test procedures and local assessment procedures based on regulations and Ford best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills
- Ability to interact effectively with senior management and regulatory contacts, including EPA and CARB
- Good problem solving skills
- Self-starter, ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to support infrequent travel
- Experience with emissions laboratory equipment or emissions test procedures/regulations (light duty or heavy duty) is desired
- Knowledge of vehicle powertrain components and basic understanding of vehicle electrification is desired
- Experience applying statistical methods is desired
