About the role
- To establish performance targets for various programs
- Understands cost targets /estimates and develops delivery plans including tough choices and recovery plan (if required) in line with program cost & budgets
- Understands and actively supports program sourcing strategies in line with purchasing, finance and program timing needs
- To work very closely with supplier product development teams during proposal development
- To work closely with design studio teams to review the feasibility of surfaces released and providing feedback and issue resolution
- Overall project management for exterior trims & bumper system
- Tracks issues & design corrective action status and supports timely close-out of issues
- Providing analyses and resolutions on faults and/or errors
- Communicate issues with key stakeholders in a professional manner. Flexibility to work in different time zones to support business
- Supports and enforces program specific milestone approvals
- Supporting CAD-based packaging & interface check and Physical Design Verification (DV) testing to support Engineering Sign-Off
- Support launch (both onsite & offsite) whenever it’s required
- Support homologation / regulatory testing at test locations like ARAI, NATRIP etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Automotive / Production Engineering with 4-7 years of experience in exterior trims / plastics / bumper / fascia system in an OEM / tier 1 supplier with hands on design and release experience in commodities like bumpers / appliques / trims / ornamentation
- Hands on Design and Release Experience in exterior trims system (bumper / fascia / trims / appliques) either in a OEM or Tier 1 supplier (like Motherson MATE, Varroc Engineering, Mitsuba Sical etc)
- Hands on experience with structured problem solving techniques
- Engineering Change implementation process, DFMEA/DVP, FMA, GD&T CAE, Mould Flow, CATIA, Tool design
- Abreast of emerging technologies
- Expertise in Design & PDM tools like 3DX, CATIA
- Expertise in bumpers / plastic trims / ornamentation parts / appliques etc
- Knowledge in plastic tooling, plastic materials, appearance approvals
- Experience in cost estimation for bumper / trims
- Experience in regulatory requirements, Mold flow Analysis
- Demonstrated ability to lead the issue resolution process.
- A broad understanding of all major vehicle systems and a customer focused mindset is required to facilitate this process.
- High energy, self-starter, with the ability and desire to take the responsibility to deliver results with minimal supervision.
- Ability and courage to effectively communicate key issues and make informed recommendations to senior management.
- Team player with a positive, flexible can-do attitude and innovative mindset.
- Excellent in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Power Point
- Ability to lead and work with a cross functional team across international time zones.
- Work closely with suppliers/engineering/manufacturing/purchasing/quality/craftsmanship to ensure the lowest cost and best quality solution.
- Knowledge with Automotive design processes / Systems engineering
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing
- Excellent project management skills to work with the team(s) to meet targets and objectives on time
