About the role
- Design and develop Ford’s next generation EV drivetrains and production hardware for drive units (windage trays, oil flow control hardware, etc.).
- Own hardware from concept to production, including sourcing, validation, and ramp.
- Improve correlation between predicted and measured results by leveraging CAE tools and empirical test resources.
- Propose, validate and implement system improvements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to design reviews, test plans, and requirement reviews to optimize powertrain systems.
- Collaborate with test engineers and subject matter experts to develop test rigs and test plans and execute development testing.
- Design and develop subsystem testing capabilities and maintain clear documentation of test findings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- >5 years of experience designing, developing, and validating electric vehicle drive unit components, or equivalent.
- Experience using simulation/modelling tools such as Catia, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, GT-Suite, ANSYS or equivalent applications.
- Experience with instrumentation, measurement and data acquisition of powertrain systems in a lab environment.
- Strong sense of ownership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong first principles understanding.
- An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team.
- A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.
