About the role

  • Design, develop, and release half shafts from concept to production, ensuring alignment with program attribute requirements and timing.
  • Translate vehicle-level driveline system requirements into detailed half shaft targets, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Familiar with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) to create and refine detailed designs.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive validation and verification testing, including DVP&R activities, to ensure product robustness and performance.
  • Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including Driveline Systems, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and external suppliers.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex engineering issues related to half shaft design, manufacturing, and field performance.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including technical reviews, component sourcing, and evaluation to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets, communicating progress and potential risks to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, test reports, and engineering release documents.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance halfshaft performance, reduce cost, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in driveline technology, and regulatory requirements to foster innovation and ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
  • 2+ years of automotive experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in halfshaft or driveline system development preferred.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) processes preferred.
