About the role
- Design, develop, and release half shafts from concept to production, ensuring alignment with program attribute requirements and timing.
- Translate vehicle-level driveline system requirements into detailed half shaft targets, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Familiar with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) to create and refine detailed designs.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive validation and verification testing, including DVP&R activities, to ensure product robustness and performance.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including Driveline Systems, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and external suppliers.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve complex engineering issues related to half shaft design, manufacturing, and field performance.
- Manage supplier relationships, including technical reviews, component sourcing, and evaluation to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets, communicating progress and potential risks to stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, test reports, and engineering release documents.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance halfshaft performance, reduce cost, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in driveline technology, and regulatory requirements to foster innovation and ensure compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
- 2+ years of automotive experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Demonstrated presentation skills
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years experience in halfshaft or driveline system development preferred.
- Familiarity with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) processes preferred.
