About the role
- The Spend Innovation Analyst leads strategic oversight of external spend programs, blending financial analysis, operational governance, and process innovation.
- This role drives transparency, stewardship, and continuous improvement through data-driven insights, stakeholder partnership, and the adoption of enabling technologies (including AI) to modernize workflows.
- Provide strategic oversight of billing operations and related roles, ensuring consistent execution, compliance, and service quality.
- Lead detailed spend analysis to identify trends, risks, savings opportunities, and performance insights across vendors and service providers.
- Conduct strategic reviews of invoices and billing patterns to improve accuracy, enforce guidelines, and optimize value.
- Support negotiation planning and vendor management by providing analytics, scenario modeling, and performance reporting.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (finance, procurement, operations, technology, and business teams) to improve governance and decision-making.
- Coordinate financial and billing processes across regions, including support for multiple currencies and varying business requirements.
- Drive process improvement initiatives that reduce cycle time, improve data quality, and enhance user/vendor experience.
- Help evaluate, develop, and implement AI-enabled solutions to automate tasks, improve compliance, and enhance reporting/insights.
- Contribute to roadmap planning for systems and tools, including requirements definition, change management, and adoption support.
- Develop executive-ready reporting and storytelling to communicate spend drivers, savings outcomes, and operational performance.
Requirements
- Experience in spend management, financial analysis, strategic sourcing/procurement, vendor management, or operational transformation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex spend data and translate it into actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders without relying solely on authority.
- Comfort operating in a fast-changing environment with multiple priorities and stakeholder groups.
- Experience managing e-billing, invoice compliance, or professional services spend categories.
- Familiarity with multi-region financial operations (currency, tax/regional process differences, and system interoperability).
- Experience supporting or leading technology implementations (automation, analytics tools, AI-assisted workflows).
- Strong negotiation support skills (benchmarking, rate analysis, value-based comparisons).
