About the role

  • Partner closely with software engineers, product managers, and a diverse range of stakeholders to deeply understand technical constraints, user stories, and complex workflows inherent in our internal fulfillment systems.
  • Own the design process from concept to implementation, creating detailed wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that simplify data-heavy tasks and complex interactions.
  • Champion a culture of rapid iteration and continuous improvement, incorporating feedback from Product Owners, internal stakeholders, and user research to ensure designs meet critical operational needs and deliver exceptional user value.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive, and well-documented design specifications and assets for engineering teams. Provide proactive support throughout the implementation phase to guarantee visual and functional accuracy, maintaining design integrity.
  • Actively contribute to and evolve the broader Ford design system and internal design libraries, ensuring consistency, scalability, and reusability across multiple internal products.
  • Provide design leadership and mentorship to other designers within cross-functional groups, fostering their growth as UX practitioners and contributing to a collaborative and inclusive culture within the larger Digital team.
  • Champion user-centered design principles for your areas of focus, balancing user needs with critical business objectives and technical feasibility.
  • Ensure a consistent approach, integrity in usability, and accessibility across all design efforts involving multiple product units.
  • Engage in project planning and scoping activities, aligning design initiatives with business needs and identifying new design opportunities to set teams up for success.
  • Concept, design, test, launch, and continuously refine new products and services through a systems-thinking approach, addressing both known and emergent user needs.
  • Support design efforts for a data-driven "test & learn" program, integrating analytics and insights to inform design decisions and measure impact.
  • Proactively collaborate with stakeholders to identify pain points and develop innovative solutions that enhance the user experience and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a design-related field (e.g., User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design) OR 5+ years of extensive experience in digital product design (UI/UX).
  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience in UI design, delivering projects from definition through execution and refinement.
  • Master's degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (e.g., Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors).
  • Expert-level proficiency with Figma (or similar design tools) for wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity mockups.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of Interaction Design, Service Design, Design Excellence, and Information Architecture principles.
  • Proven ability to build consensus, influence stakeholders, and work effectively within dynamic cross-functional teams of designers, product managers, and engineers.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale, build relationships, and proactively engage with team members and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the value of product features, identify trade-offs, and deliver high-quality digital products that meet user and business needs.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing impactful UI design work across a variety of complex digital products or platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote and dynamic working environment, earning trust, maintaining positive relationships, and contributing to an inclusive culture.
