About the role

  • Design and Release Engineering Role supporting the development of Steering Systems that meet highest quality and functional requirements.
  • Validate and release mechanical hardware designs for current production and/or forward model steering systems in major and minor Ford programs.
  • Work with suppliers to develop, design, and release EPAS mechanicals (gear, assist mechanism).
  • Communicate with Suppliers, Vehicle Dynamics, Vehicle Program Management, CAD designers, release analysts, etc., to get changes processed.
  • Problem solve design, manufacturing, and quality issues.
  • Responsible for failure mode avoidance documentation (boundary diagrams, P-diagrams, DFMEA’s, etc.).
  • Sign-off drawings, DVP’s, PVP’s, DVP&R’s, PVP&R’s.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 2 years of steering systems experience in an automotive domain or similar.
  • Master's degree in Engineering (even better).
  • Computer-literate (Excel; Word; PowerPoint; etc.).
  • Strong leadership skills – inherent self-starter, self-motivated and strong drive for results.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Failure mode avoidance skills.
  • Ability to travel and support Ford Motor Company final assembly plants and component supplier plants when required.
