About the role
- Design and Release Engineering Role supporting the development of Steering Systems that meet highest quality and functional requirements.
- Validate and release mechanical hardware designs for current production and/or forward model steering systems in major and minor Ford programs.
- Work with suppliers to develop, design, and release EPAS mechanicals (gear, assist mechanism).
- Communicate with Suppliers, Vehicle Dynamics, Vehicle Program Management, CAD designers, release analysts, etc., to get changes processed.
- Problem solve design, manufacturing, and quality issues.
- Responsible for failure mode avoidance documentation (boundary diagrams, P-diagrams, DFMEA’s, etc.).
- Sign-off drawings, DVP’s, PVP’s, DVP&R’s, PVP&R’s.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 2 years of steering systems experience in an automotive domain or similar.
- Master's degree in Engineering (even better).
- Computer-literate (Excel; Word; PowerPoint; etc.).
- Strong leadership skills – inherent self-starter, self-motivated and strong drive for results.
- Problem solving skills.
- Project management skills.
- Strong oral/written communication skills.
- Failure mode avoidance skills.
- Ability to travel and support Ford Motor Company final assembly plants and component supplier plants when required.
