Paint Engineering Single Point of Contact for sludge systems, emission controls and abatement, and cleaning (Integrated Facility Management & Total Booth Maintenance)
Support emerging issues involving current, future environmental regulations, and process strategies
Coordinate environmental requirements and strategies with Advanced Material Development, Facilities Engineering on implementation and replication
Benchmark competitor's technologies and direction in development of Ford's Paint Strategy and Environmental Direction
Utilize Six Sigma, data driven approaches in development of Advanced Materials and Processes for Lean and Flexible Manufacturing
Identify, develop, and implement energy and sustainability projects to support VO’s commitment to corporate goals
Support development of materials and process technologies to address current and emerging environmental requirements
Develop and implement annual non-prod project for life-extension and performance improvement of paint shop’s emission control systems
Support plants and programs on issues related to all areas of designated SME responsibility
Support plants in resolving booth performance issues and coordinate with TBM and Filtration Management suppliers
Manage bid packages, clarifications, sourcing decisions, and at least one activity directly during abatement system refurbishment projects
Provide input on strategies to reduce the carbon footprint of existing paint processes
Support competitive assessments of paint processes and environmental strategy
Work to understand current and proposed environmental legislation and consult with EQO to develop strategies
Coordinate with plant paint management, equipment suppliers, engineering firms, and EQO on paint emission issues and odor complaints
Respond to PECE requests for information on abatement equipment, operating parameters, facility layout, and process system operation
Review plant CAM Plan revisions and update plant process flow schematics when changes are made
Act as single point of contact for combustion safety issues and manage 3rd party safety inspections on all VO boilers
Participate in monthly Core Team meetings and lead team actions related to combustion equipment safety
Develop projects and work with Ford Land to develop performance contracts and include energy impacts in plant’s Energy Roadmap
Estimate energy and budget impacts of program process changes with Ford Land, suppliers, and plants
Requirements
BSc, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial OR Electrical) or equivalent experience (12+ years' in Automotive Mfg, pref within Paint Mfg environment)
At least one year experience in automotive assembly plant, paint preferred
Experience with MDEQ requirements preferred
Willingness to work on cross-functional teams on issues related to Safety, Quality, Cost and the Environment
Develop strategies for implementing balanced solutions
Communicate environmental requirements and the resultant need for technology, strategy, and resources
Have strong interpersonal skills
Willingness to develop Six Sigma Black Belt personal tool set
Ability to work in plant environments dealing with a broad range of personalities
Able to travel to Ford Manufacturing Facilities and Assembly Plants
Interest in Manufacturing, Energy, and Environmental applications
Able to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time
