About the role

  • CAP Body Construction PVT Engineer Body onsite at CAP responsible for Body Construction current model quality workstream for Explorer/Aviator vehicle lines at Chicago Assembly Plant
  • Review daily Vehicle Warranty for proper binning (Process, Design, Supplier Design, Supplier Process)
  • Address Warranty/Build Issues/Containment Actions with supporting data at Daily Quality Meetings
  • Lead Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for Sheet Metal / Wind Noise Process/Manufacturing concerns
  • Provide manufacturing input into development and prioritization of vehicle quality roadmaps, containment and corrective actions
  • Assist VRT to assure alignment with Plant internal quality indicators (QLS, FCPA) and verify containment actions
  • Assist in development and management of Quality roadmaps to deliver Vehicle Functional Group objectives (TGW, Repairs/1000, and CPU reductions) by implementing revisions to tooling, equipment, facilities, process, error proofing implementation, and measurement methods
  • Support Health Chart assessments for Sheet Metal / Wind Noise
  • Launch Minor/Job#2 programs, Added Starters, capacity changes and running changes including assembly feasibility, issue resolution, validation and documentation, change control, tooling/equipment/facilities development and installation
  • Support in-plant trials and prove-out for engineering concerns, Material Cost Reduction actions, Engineering Alerts, capacity change actions, and labor cost studies
  • Support Vehicle Quality Review report with manufacturing analysis using 6-Sigma problem solving tools
  • Process development and production process sheet updates

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or related field, or related degree, or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education
  • 3-5 years of knowledge and experience with manufacturing and assembly operations and/or vehicle launches
  • Self-starter, requiring minimal direction
  • Provide problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate in a multi-tasking, demanding environment and meet deadlines
  • Preferred: MS in Engineering or related field or equivalent
  • Preferred: 5-7 years of knowledge and experience with manufacturing and assembly operations and/or vehicle launches
  • Preferred: Background in Six Sigma and/or FMEA principles
  • Preferred: Project Management skills
  • Preferred: Body Construction Manufacturing Engineering program understanding
