About the role
- Responsible for providing legal guidance, consultation to various business functions
- Provides support and assists in protecting all departments in the company regarding regulatory matters, related legal and compliance matters
- Drafts, reviews, and approves policies and procedures, and other legal documents and provides feedback on legal issues relating to compliance monitoring
- Anticipates and identifies legal issues and counsels management in order to develop legal strategies and solutions; assists management with evaluating legal risk factors involved in business decisions
- Reviews contracts, leases, and other legal documents, as well as internal policies and procedures; researches legal issues and recommends revisions as necessary
- Oversee and manage internal and external counsel where appropriate
- Reviews, researches, interprets, and prepares both written and oral opinions on a wide variety of legal issues
- Represents the company in connection with the preparation and negotiation of various contracts and agreements, including principally vendor contracts and consumer loan documents
- Assists in protecting an organization's legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of experience at a law firm or in house
- Admitted to state bar in the state where practicing transactions, contract management, taxes, and general corporate work
- Recent experience providing strategic legal and compliance advice
- Analytical and strategic problem solving and negotiation skills
- Interpersonal, oral, and written communication, and presentation skills with tact and diplomacy
- MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
