About the role

  • Assist in the delivery of Roads Network Management obligations in accordance with national legislation and Fife Council standards
  • Investigating and identifying technical solutions for roads related problems
  • Procuring and supervising consultants, contractors or suppliers for specific activities
  • Undertaking contract supervision and administration
  • Maintaining effective control on delegated budgets
  • Researching and preparing reports for the Service Manager on technical and service delivery issues
  • Investigating and drafting responses to customer enquiries and correspondence.

Requirements

  • Educated to SCQF level 7, includes HNC or SVQ level 4, preferably in Civil Engineering, or equivalent subject
  • Extensive post qualification experience
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently with minimum supervision
  • Able to travel across Fife at short notice
  • Good numerical skills, able to prepare cost estimates, contract documentation and manage budgets for small scale projects
  • Familiar with the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, regarding management and maintenance of roads related structural assets
  • Understanding of Civil Engineering and roads maintenance.
