About the role
- Lead the design and development of ceiling fans, integrating AC/DC/BLDC motor technologies, motor controls, LED lighting, and smart home connectivity (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Alexa, Google Home).
- Conduct airflow, noise, and energy efficiency analyses to ensure exceptional product performance and compliance with standards (UL/ETL, Energy Star, DOE, JA8/Title 24).
- Develop and validate motor control circuits, LED driver systems, and smart home integrations, ensuring reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using tools like SolidWorks, Autodesk, or Creo.
- Oversee prototype builds, coordinate lab/field testing, and perform root-cause analysis to validate performance and resolve issues.
- Partner with design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM), cost efficiency, and product feasibility.
- Collaborate with overseas suppliers (primarily in Asia) to ensure product specifications, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Drive initiatives for energy efficiency, cost optimization, and next-generation technology integration to enhance product competitiveness.
- Deliver executive-level updates on project progress and risks.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Offer technical support for installation, warranty issues, and field troubleshooting as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in consumer product development, with 3+ years focused on ceiling fans or similar motorized systems.
- Expertise in motor technologies (AC, DC, BLDC) and control methods (TRIAC, PWM, vector control).
- Proficiency in LED systems, including driver integration, dimming, and thermal management.
- Experience with smart home technologies and wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
- Advanced skills in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk, Creo, or similar) and BOM management.
- Knowledge of safety and efficiency standards (UL/ETL, Energy Star, DOE, JA8/Title 24).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of power electronics, circuit design, and embedded motor control systems.
- Experience with supplier management and manufacturing processes in Asia.
- Proficiency in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and airflow simulation tools.
- Familiarity with IoT integration and voice-assistant platforms such as: MATTER, Alexa, Google Home.
