About the role
- Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S policies, standards, and procedures across all manufacturing locations.
- Build and drive a cohesive safety program that can be executed by site leaders with limited EH&S resources.
- Conduct regular site assessments, audits, and walkthroughs to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Review incident investigations (near misses, injuries, property damage, environmental events) and ensure timely root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Serve as the primary EH&S advisor for manufacturing sites with no on-site safety professionals.
- Train supervisors and managers in safety procedures, compliance requirements, and risk-reduction practices.
- Coach site leaders on developing a culture of accountability, hazard recognition, and safe work behaviors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain required records, documentation, and reporting for environmental and safety compliance.
- Develop and manage programs such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, PPE, machine guarding, waste management, and emergency preparedness.
- Identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities across the network of sites.
- Develop practical tools, templates, and processes that simplify EH&S execution for sites.
- Track key safety metrics and report results to leadership.
- Develop and deliver EH&S training (in-person and virtual) for employees and leaders.
- Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and leadership training sessions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in EH&S roles within a manufacturing environment; multi-site experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of OSHA/EPA regulations and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and lead without authority, especially within small to mid-size site environments.
- Excellent communication, training, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to travel regularly to manufacturing sites (up to 30%).
