About the role
- Lead the design of hybrid cloud data platforms, including storage tiers, database modernization, and operational data flows.
- Oversee database assessment, consolidation, and migration for infrastructure and application-related datasets (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Define ingestion and transformation patterns for infra telemetry, configuration/state data, asset inventories, and migration data.
- Architect cloud-managed database solutions (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL Flexible Server, AWS RDS, Cloud SQL) aligned to modernization initiatives.
- Establish governance for schema changes, metadata, lineage, retention, and DB security controls across hybrid environments.
- Lead design of operational data pipelines that support infra monitors, migration factory workflows, topology mapping, and system state analytics.
- Collaborate with Cloud Architects and Infra SMEs to integrate DB workloads with IAM, encryption, networking, and observability platforms.
- Govern LLDs, DB migration runbooks, schema modernization plans, and operational data documentation.
- Mentor teams on database best practices for cloud adoption, performance tuning, indexing, lifecycle policies, and storage optimization.
- Ensure data platform compliance with enterprise governance, DR/backup requirements, DB security posture, and access controls.
Requirements
- Up to 14 years in cloud engineering, infra modernization, or hybrid data platform roles with deep exposure to databases.
- Strong experience with RDBMS platforms: Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL Cloud-managed DBs (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Cloud SQL)
- Hands-on skills in DB schema design, normalization, indexing, partitioning, backup/restore, and performance optimization.
- Strong SQL and scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for DB automation and data operations.
- Understanding of cloud storage tiers, IAM, networking, encryption, backup policies, logging, and governance frameworks.
- Experience with ETL/ELT workflows supporting infra and migration data (not BI/analytics).
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or related field, cloud certifications preferred.
