About the role
- Identify new and alternative sources to continuously improve the supplier base, with a focus on machined parts
- Establish a machining strategy for Quebec system assemblies and support make-or-buy decisions
- Participate in the selection and approval of new suppliers as required and in compliance with established processes
- Lead contractual negotiations and procurement agreements
- Coordinate and conduct contract negotiations with suppliers
- Coordinate and lead negotiations on contractual claims with suppliers to support production issues
- Analyze key market trends related to raw materials, components, regulations, etc.
- Identify, analyze, and implement cost-reduction opportunities
- Participate in the governance of cost-reduction and cost-avoidance projects and ensure proper tracking of associated performance indicators (KPIs)
- Ensure the existence and deployment of an overall commodity strategy
- Coordinate buyers' activities in alignment with Balanced Scorecard objectives
- Actively lead supplier reviews and audits
- Develop and mentor team members on various sourcing initiatives and procurement procedures
- Support the purchasing team's day-to-day activities as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A combination of relevant experience and supply chain training will also be considered
- 5 to 10 years of relevant procurement and supply chain experience in a senior role
- Proven experience in supplier sourcing and tendering processes (RFQ/RFP)
- Strong knowledge of supplier contracts and agreements
- Knowledge of the electronics, mechanical, and raw materials markets
- Bilingual (French/English)
- Excellent negotiation skills with a structured, rigorous approach
- Advanced data analysis skills
- Familiarity with ERP systems
