About the role
- Supports the long-term company-wide resilience and reliability strategy by developing, linking and applying new resiliency and reliability planning methods, models, equipment and technologies.
- Stays up to date with industry best practices and standards on resilience and reliability including new planning models, equipment and technologies and evaluates their applicability given Eversource’s strategic goals.
- Works with various departments throughout the Company and translates their needs into engineering models and processes.
- Identifies opportunities for process change or continuous improvement and participates in the acceptance and implementation of the change including the development of in-house tools.
- Performs industry benchmarking through literature review or by engaging with other utilities and energy companies, consultants and other stakeholders as needed.
- Supports the development of analytics tools needed for resilience and reliability planning by providing guidance on the engineering logic and principles
- Develops reports, prepares and delivers presentations, writes procedures and performs other activities as needed.
- Drives regulatory responses and ensures company engagement and representation in applicable regulatory proceedings.
- Self-imposes standards of excellence and has the ability to achieve desired results by effectively prioritizing work for themselves and their team and assuming responsibility and accountability to promote Eversource’s customer first standards.
- Engages directly with vendors, partners, and government entities to support the development of new methods, obtain novel equipment, software and technology, initiate and support studies, to enable the transition to a more resilient system.
Requirements
- Bachelor''s degree in engineering (required)
- Advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in Transmission or Distribution Engineering or Planning in a utility environment, or in a related discipline
- Experience with electrical distribution systems
- Demonstrated experience with commercial distribution power flow models; familiarity with Synergi is preferred
- Understanding of distribution reliability and resiliency and protection and control
- Fast & eager learner, that enjoys working collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams and is interested in leading data and engineering teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Experience in coding (Matlab, Python, SQL), databases or PowerBI is a plus
