About the role
- Responsible for the development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the gas system and its equipment to meet the mission and objectives of the gas organization.
- Coordinate evaluation of system failures and appropriate resolutions; provide support to gas operations on unplanned maintenance and emergency situations.
- Ensure Eversource gas transmission and distribution systems are designed to high quality standards for safe, reliable, environmentally sound service.
- Share accountability in the strategy, development, and design of the organization’s Asset Management Plan (comprehensive long-term plan for the gas transmission and distribution system).
- Supervise, assign, prioritize and direct work performed by other internal engineers, external engineering resources and staff (at least 2 FTE Engineers or 1 FTE Engineer and 1 FTE Designer).
- Manage and lead the Stations Asset Family (gate and district regulator stations) elements of the Gas Asset & Risk Management Program to meet regulatory requirements and business goals.
- Drive improvements and changes to the Gas Asset & Risk Management Program and present project scope, progress, study results, and new tools/equipment/procedures to Gas Business leadership.
- Responsible for cost and performance of the stations assets, including reliability analysis, trending of system events, and monitoring of equipment condition.
- Develop, justify and obtain approval for Asset Family Plan activities over a multi-year horizon and for ongoing projects.
- Ensure design, specification, and preparation of system gas permits and related customer notifications are completed accurately and on time; develop preliminary engineering designs as necessary.
- Collaborate with other Engineers to ensure consistency; provide technical support and direction to operating areas relative to system priorities, engineering guidelines and operating decisions.
- Accountable for root-cause analysis, development and implementation of corrective actions; evaluate and select technology and equipment for the system.
- Develop standards and procedures for design, operation and maintenance; assume the role of the Manager as required.
Requirements
- Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment; Eversource will not sponsor candidates for work visas for this position.
- Must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.
- Requires a BS Engineering.
- Eight years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the gas utility industry.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention-to-detail.
- Knowledge of gas system operations; gas system equipment design; applicable governmental and regulatory laws, rules and regulations.
- Working knowledge of standard office computer software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
