About the role

  • Shared role between ERM and Corporate Insurance, identifying, assessing, prioritizing and mitigating risks
  • Facilitate risk identification workshops across departments
  • Work with risk owners and project managers on assessment, mitigation and monitoring of risks, including capital projects and strategic initiatives
  • Develop key risk indicator (KRI) reports for senior management
  • Monitor mitigation progress via targeted metrics
  • Educate organizations on enterprise risk management fundamentals
  • Research emerging risks facing the utility industry and public companies
  • Perform contract reviews for insurance requirements and indemnification agreements
  • Responsible for surety bond procurement and reporting and insurance applications and placements
  • Assess construction risk on complex projects for project-specific insurance coverage
  • Obtain and review certificates of insurance
  • Participate in annual renewal process and assist with insurance invoice processing and allocation

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment
  • Knowledge and expertise in enterprise risk management, including mitigation activities, and/or insurance with respect to energy markets, physical energy assets and financial products
  • Knowledge of the energy transmission, distribution, and marketing industry, its value chain and key industry issues
  • Understanding of state and federal utility industry regulation
  • Knowledge of finance and analytics
  • Extensive resourcefulness to understand and define complex, inter-related risk, finance and/or regulatory issues
  • Ability to think strategically and connect risks to solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to facilitate discussions, gain consensus, develop action plans, and drive implementation
  • Extensive analytical skills and decisive action
  • Bachelor's degree in business or similar discipline or equivalent experience (Master's preferred)
  • Minimum of 5-8 years related experience in finance, operations, planning and/or risk management within the energy or other capital-intensive industry
  • Experience in regulated electric/gas industry strongly preferred
