About the role
- Provide independent assurance to the Board and management on governance, management of risk and the adequacy of internal control, through development and implementation of an annual risk based internal audit plan addressing key strategic and operational risks;
- Manage and support a multidisciplinary audit team and ensure team are motivated and engaged while delivering a challenging audit plan;
- Ensure the GIA function adds value to the organisation by performing advisory and consulting services, without prejudice to assurance responsibilities;
- Ensure appropriate reporting to key stakeholders including the Audit & Risk Committee, ExCo and Senior Management on audit results, performance relative to the internal audit plan, GIA KPIs, results of external assessments of the function and follow up on implementation of audit actions;
- Ensure the function operates effectively and in conformance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and best practice quality standards;
- Support the development of appropriate structures, skills and competence within the function including access to specialist skills and best practice via external co-source services.
Requirements
- A professional accounting qualification or equivalent
- Proven track record of operating at a senior level and delivering complex assignments.
- Experience in internal audit, risk management or related fields is desirable.
- Engineering or utility experience is desirable.
