About the role
- Travel to beautiful, remote regions across Canada to support field programs and stewardship initiatives
- Contribute to transformative mining and energy projects for major clients
- Play a key leadership role in a growing fisheries team delivering complex work across Canada and globally
- Operate from one of ERM’s major Canadian offices—or thrive in a flexible hybrid environment
- You’ll join a multidisciplinary community of aquatic scientists, hydrologists, wildlife biologists, toxicologists, and other experts to solve pressing sustainability challenges
Requirements
- B.Sc. Fisheries Biology or a related discipline
- Registered Professional Biologist (or equivalent), or eligibility to obtain designation
- 4+ years of consulting experience in freshwater fish and fish habitat assessments, sampling, aquatic biology, and water quality programs
- Advanced written and oral communication skills, including technical reporting and permitting documentation
- Strong knowledge of federal, provincial, and territorial regulations relevant to mining and oil & gas
- Proven ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment, work independently with minimal supervision, and travel extensively
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to safety
- Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area
- Pleasure Craft Operator’s License
- Preferred M.Sc. in Fisheries Biology or a related discipline
- 6+ years of consulting experience in freshwater fish and fish habitat assessments, sampling, aquatic biology, and water quality programs
- Experience in hydrology, instream flow assessment, hydroacoustic/bathymetric assessment, and/or fish habitat offsetting
- Electrofishing certification, Intermediate First Aid, and/or Swiftwater Rescue Training
- Experience mentoring junior staff
